Cookieless analytics, with a choice to turn it off.
Who runs this site
This is Sergei Khlopenkov's professional portfolio at globesoul.com. For privacy questions or a data request, email sergei@globesoul.com.
Your choice comes first
This portfolio uses PostHog in cookieless mode to understand which pages and links are useful and to find browser errors. It does not store an analytics identifier in cookies, local storage, or session storage. You can turn collection off using the Cookieless analytics switch at the bottom of every page. A previous, unexpired Reject analytics choice remains in force.
The site also respects your browser's Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. When either signal is enabled, analytics stays off and the footer explains why.
What optional analytics measures
Unless you turn analytics off, PostHog receives page visits, traffic sources and campaign tags, device and browser information, case-study and gallery interactions, CV and contact-link clicks, and successful email copies. Events are not connected to a name, email address, account, or activity on other globesoul.com subdomains.
PostHog uses the request's IP address, browser user agent, site hostname, and a daily changing salt to calculate a visitor hash on its servers. It discards the source IP and raw user agent during cookieless processing. The hash changes each day, so it does not link your visits across days. People sharing a network and browser version can be counted together.
Browser errors include an error message and technical stack information so I can fix broken interactions. URL query strings and fragments are removed from analytics URLs and error URLs before sending. Only selected campaign labels are kept. Obvious email addresses and credentials are redacted from error details. IP geolocation is disabled.
Session recording, general click autocapture, heatmaps, surveys, and console-log collection are off. The site does not collect the contents of messages you send through email, Telegram, or WhatsApp. A link click only shows intent to contact me or open the CV.
Browser storage and retention
PostHog uses no cookies, local storage, or session storage in this integration. Only when you change the analytics switch does the site save your preference in local storage for 180 days. This preference remembers your choice and contains no tracking identifier. Old portfolio analytics identifiers are removed when you visit.
Your preference applies to this website. You can reset it by clearing this site's browser storage. If browser storage is blocked, a new choice lasts only for the current page.
Analytics is processed by PostHog Cloud in the United States. The current free plan retains event data for up to one year. Turning analytics off stops new collection; requests already sent may still arrive. It does not erase past events. Cookieless events cannot be looked up using a browser identifier saved on your device. Contact me with questions about past data, including older opt-in analytics.
Hosting and external links
The hosting service necessarily receives your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and files you open, regardless of your analytics choice. External websites and contact services apply their own privacy policies when you open their links.
Outreach email
I write one-to-one emails about engineering work to people at companies with a relevant opening or need. If I wrote to you, your address came from the posting, your company's own website, your own published pages, or Hunter.io, an email-finding service.
I keep your name, work email, company and role, and our message thread and its outcome, so that I follow up once and never write to you again after a no. I delete them 12 months after the outreach ends. For recipients in the EU and the UK, the legal basis is legitimate interest.
To opt out, reply "no further contact" or email sergei@globesoul.com. An opt-out is permanent: so that I can honour it, I keep only your email address, on a do-not-contact list with no end date, and delete everything else 12 months after the outreach ends.
To see the record I keep about you, or to have it deleted, email the same address. Recipients in the EU or the UK can also complain to their data protection authority.
