Own project, MIT source release for macOS

MacHelm

MacHelm dashboard in local development build 11.

MacHelm1 / 1

MacHelm's native macOS dashboard showing its workstation tools

Inspect process activity, review storage cleanup, manage startup services and control power and cooling from a native dashboard.

What I built.

I built the SwiftUI/AppKit interface and tool boundaries, including constrained privileged helpers, fan-control ownership and recovery, process sampling and service lifecycle controls.

The engineering decision.

Separate interface state, decision rules and operating-system effects. Reading a page observes state; actions that affect the machine have explicit controls and ownership.

The result.

A native dashboard and menu-bar application with focused tools for activity, storage, services, power, cooling and cursor hiding. Public source includes testable rules, fault-injection checks and build instructions.

Evidence and scope

Native verification and platform limits

  • SwiftUI / AppKit
  • XPC helpers
  • Python

Version 0.1 is an MIT source release for macOS 26 or later, built with Xcode. It includes no signed, notarized application download or App Store release.

Privileged tools require appropriate signing and approval. Fan access has a limited hardware map; observations on one M2 Pro do not qualify every Mac.

Some features use private or undocumented macOS interfaces.
